“Minutemen” on Toon Disney

Posted on April 15th, 2008 in Chad/Corbin, Minutemen by Jason

Minutemen, featuring Corbin Bleu’s “Run It Back Again,” will be premiering on Toon Disney on Monday 4/21/08 at 5:00pm/4:00c.

It’s being touted as part of the Toon Disney/Jetix “EnvirOlympics,” which baffles me, since it doesn’t seem like an environmentally-friendly movie. Then again, I’ve seen stranger things: Power Rangers Jungle Fury is classified as “Animated” on my TiVo guides.

Picture This, starring Ashley Tisdale

Posted on April 10th, 2008 in Picture This, Sharpay/Ashley by Jason

Ashley’s feature film debut, “Picture This,” is coming to DVD on July 22. From the article:

Tisdale plays an unpopular high school senior who gets a date to the biggest party of the year with the school’s most sought-after guy, only to find herself grounded on the appointed date. So she enlists her friends and video phone to outsmart her dad — as well as her date’s ex-girlfriend.

Tisdale, responding via e-mail, confirmed that the script attracted her to the project. “When I read the script for ‘Picture This,’ I just fell in love with the lead character, Mandy, this goofy, unpopular girl-next-door who knows what she wants but isn’t willing to sacrifice who she is to get it,” Tisdale said. “Mandy’s real, and I think a lot of kids will relate to that. It reminds me a lot of when I was in high school. I wasn’t really in the popular group, but I wasn’t in the nerdy group. I was somewhere in the middle, too.”

Mark your calendars to pick up “Picture This” at a store near you!

HSM: Summer Session - July on ABC!

Posted on April 2nd, 2008 in HSM Summer Session by Jason

I’m already making plans for my TiVo box. Here’s a summary, from The Futon Critic:

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: SUMMER SESSION PREMIERES SUNDAY, JULY 20 (8:00-9:00 p.m.) - The multi-episode competition reality series will hold unique nationwide casting sessions that will appear in the show, with plenty of surprises from global sensation “Disney’s High School Musical.” This much-anticipated series brings the phenomenally successful “High School Musical” experience to life. The casting scouts welcome anyone and everyone ages 16-22 who has dreamed of being center stage–the high school quarterback who’s never tried out for a play but has a song in his heart; the drama club extrovert looking to break into the big time; someone looking to trade the chess club routine for a dance routineall are invited to “Get’cha head in the game,” as the hit song says! The finalists will ultimately participate in a summer music program to hone their skills. After eliminations, the winner will be given the opportunity of a lifetime, but details of the grand prize are still under wraps. The series premieres on Sunday, July 20, and will air Sunday and Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. for three weeks, and then continue on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. through the end of the summer. “High School Musical: Summer Session” is executive produced by Jay Blumenfeld and Tony Marsh (both of “Here Come the Newlyweds”) of The Jay and Tony Show. Hosts and judges will be announced at a later date. Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” has been seen by over 250 million viewers and the sequel, “High School Musical 2,” has been seen by over 195 million viewers in 24 languages around the world. The movies spawned stage productions at schools and in professional theatres around the world, multi-platinum CDs, DVDs and books, a successful consumer products franchise at mass retailers, a themed show at Disneyland Parks in Anaheim, Orlando and Paris, a sold-out 42 date arena concert tour in North America and Latin America and a popular touring ice show around the world.

IFQ Article: “Lock & Roll Forever”

Lucas and Oreskaband - Lock and Roll Forever

Independent Film Quarterly Magazine recently featured an article about Lock and Roll Forever, which stars HSM’s Lucas Grabeel. To my surprise, I found out that the same minds behind HSM are the same minds behind L&RF…

Rosenbush says, “I took the power of Peter Barsocchini (the writer of HSM), my partner Bill Borden and one of the stars from HSM Lucas Grabeel and married it to these rocking Japanese school girls.” The film stars teen heartthrob Lucas Grabeel from HSM, who already has accumulated a colossal following in the young peoples’ demographics. Also the film stars Ike Barinholtz from MAD TV and the wildly exploding upcoming band ORESKABAND.

More of Lucas in “College Road Trip”

This collection of pictures showcases a scene in Disney’s College Road Trip from the latest trailer for the film. In it, Lucas’s character (”Geeky Boy”) gets tackled by Donny Osmond in a Pilgrim suit while Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symone watch from the doorway. Sorry for the small picture sizes, but I have to fit it within the confines of the blog…

It looks like a fun movie, that’s for sure. College Road Trip is now playing!

Vanessa Hudgens for Neutrogena Wave

Vanessa Hudgens returns to her Neutrogena roots and promotes the new “Wave,” which is a daily facial scrubbing pod. Here are a couple of snaps from the commercial:

How come Vanessa is such a good spokesperson? Two Neutrogena ads, the Red shoes… What’s next for Baby V?

The Minutemen are coming… to DVD!

Posted on February 17th, 2008 in Chad/Corbin, Merchandise, Minutemen by Jason

Disney Channel’s newest original movie, Minutemen, is already being planned for a DVD launch. The sneak preview is included on the latest volume of Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive (volume 4 - Star of Isis), and pins the DVD for a May 20th release date.

Among the bonus features are an alternate ending, cast interviews, and a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the movie. Whether or not the videos for “Run It Back Again” (by Corbin Bleu) and “Like Whoa” (by Aly & AJ) are included is still up in the air, but I think it’s a good bet that they will be.

Also, no Blu-ray Disc release of the movie? For shame, Disney DVD!
